To encourage a better balance between people and cars, every year PEDS honors outstanding projects, places, groups and individuals that have contributed significantly toward making metro Atlanta safer, more accessible and enjoyable for all pedestrians.

Join us in celebrating the nine awardees from all corners of the metro Atlanta area who have accomplished major progress this year.

Enjoy delicious appetizers from Baraonda and great walking music from DJ Brian McGreevy. Meet others from across the region who care about making metro Atlanta a safer and more enjoyable place to walk. Learn about innovative design solutions that create pedestrian-friendly places and see what our partners and fellow advocates are achieving.

This annual event has become an Atlanta tradition. Don't miss it!

Thick LogoAbout PEDS:

Since 1996, PEDS has worked with government agencies, urban designers, community organizations and others to make metro Atlanta walkable. Through education and advocacy, PEDS:

  • changes community attitudes to favor walking
  • helps ensure the design of pedestrian-friendly communities
  • advances the equitable use of transportation funds
  • makes sidewalks and crossings accessible to all users
  • reduces the risk of pedestrian injury or death in metro Atlanta.
PEDS urges investment in pedestrian facilities, improvement of street design, and change in driver behavior so that streets can be shared safely with pedestrians. Our programs incorporate the three E's of pedestrian safety: education, enforcement and engineering.
