"Formulating and Asking Questions for Successful Outcomes"

1.5 Non Ethics CME Approved!

The success of mediation critically depends on the qualities of questions posed within it. The S Questions Model has been developed by Gerry O’Sullivan and is introduced in her book - ‘The Mediator’s Toolkit: Formulating and Asking Questions for Successful Outcomes’. This is the first published work to shine a spotlight on mediation questions, per se.

The purpose of this question type is to:

  • Identify the link between the observations, interpretations, assumptions, beliefs and the subsequent actions of a party.
  • Make an unconscious thinking process conscious and introduces new insight to the parties which creates understanding between them.
  • Shift a party's perspective from their old narrative towards a new narrative

Gerry O’Sullivan will introduce, describe and explain the purpose and focus of Shift Thinking: Journey of Inference Questions the so that participants will be able to implement the theoretical learning in practice.
