Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas: A Grand Development

About the Speaker:

Chris Davis is the project manager for construction manager Turner on the Nebraska Furniture Mart project, a 1.9 million square foot home furnishings retail and distribution center being built by Berkshire Hathaway’s Nebraska Furniture Mart in The Colony.

 Previously, Chris was the Vice-President of Operations for T&B Structural Systems, an engineering firm that designed and supplied mechanically stabilized earth systems to the heavy highway industry, and a project manager for Austin Commercial and Linbeck Construction, working on projects such as SMU’s Recreation Center, Bass Hall in Fort Worth, and Acme Brick’s Headquarters.

 Chris earned his B.S. degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1985, and served as an aircraft maintenance officer for the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) aircraft.

 Chris was a founding core group member of the Lean Construction Institute’s Dallas Fort Worth community of practice, Co-Chair of the Electric Vehicles North Texas Public Charging Infrastructure Committee, and served on the US Green Building Council’s program committee.  He enjoys backpacking, road-biking with his wife on the outskirts of Fort Worth, and skydiving.

 

James Hobbs

About the Speaker:

James Hobbs is the Marketing Supervisor for Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas.  He joined Nebraska Furniture Mart in 2012 as a Marketing Projects Coordinator in Kansas City. His current responsibility is to plan and conduct public relation programs promoting Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas to the community.

 Prior to Nebraska Furniture Mart, James graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a B.S. in Interactive Digital Media in 2008, and has since worked in various marketing positions. While working at the Independence Chamber of Commerce in 2010, he received the Award of Excellence from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives for creating and implementing a strategic social media plan that increased revenue for their community festival. 

 James is part of the Rotary Club of Eastern Independence and held the position of Webmaster Chair for Rotary District 6040.  He is also an Eagle Scout, season ticket holder for the Sporting Kansas City soccer team and loves barbeque.  In June, James relocated from Kansas City to his new home in Frisco, Texas.

 He is excited for this opportunity to promote Nebraska Furniture Mart’s new location in The Colony, Texas which is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2015.
