ANCC CE accreditation (one nursing CE credit) has been obtained for this educational actvity through the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Participation in this webinar is FREE to ATHNA members. However, if you wish to receive one CE credit, a payment of $20 will be required. Instructions for obtaining CE credit will be given at the end of the webinar.
On Friday, March 26, 2021, Julie Richards, former ATHNA President and Advanced Practice Provider IV at Vaden Health Center, Stanford University, will present on the topic of telehealth for travel health services. Covid-19 has brought much attention to telehealth as an emerging, alternative health delivery system. For many of our travelers, telehealth can be a viable, even preferred, option for the delivery of pre and post travel services. Whether you are brand new to telehealth, thinking about adding telehealth to your current in-person service, or just interested in knowing what are current telehealth issues and opportunities in our specialty, you won't want to miss this important and timely topic.
Webinar Objectives:
At the completion of this webinar, the learner will be able to:
1. List two resources for providing high quality telehealth services.
2. Identify an obstacle to telehealth services that is less of an obstacle post-pandemic.
3.Describe three advantages of telehealth for patients.
Our Speaker:
Bio: Julie Richards MS, MSN, WNP-BC, FNP-BC, F-ATHNA
Julie Richards leads travel health at the Vaden Health Center at Stanford University. She is Past President of the American Travel Health Nurses Association (ATHNA) and part of the ATHNA team that achieved American Nurses Association recognition of Travel Health Nursing as a designated specialty. She is a co-author of the forthcoming Travel Health Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 1st Edition, (ANA). In addition, Ms. Richards serves in a leadership role in the International Society of Travel Medicine. She consults regarding travel health issues and conducts regular training for medical professionals and lay audiences. A former faculty member of the UCSF School of Nursing, she taught in the Women’s Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program. She earned a Master of Science degree in engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science degree in nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She is a licensed nurse practitioner, board certified in family practice and women's health; and holds a certificate in travel health from the International Society of Travel Medicine She received the Stanford Health Care Advanced Practice Provider of the Year Award for 2019.
