With the UK Government mounting of layer upon layer of restrictive and complex legislation on the lettings industry, leading to over 170 pieces of legislation to navigate and to comply with, it is imperative that landlords and agents keep fully up to date.The penalties for non-compliance are considerable and impose fines, imprisonment and others remove provisions for recovering possession of property.

Matthew White, Director in charge of lettings at Hose Rhodes Dickson and a member of ARLA the Association of Residential Letting Agents with 28 years of experience working in the lettings industry will be talking about the requirements and pitfalls the Deregulation Act 2015, The Immigration Act 2016 and what landlords and agents are required to establish before letting a property to a tenant and the impact of the Tenant Fees Bill due to be law from 1 June 2019.

Further, Matthew will advise of how landlords can protect themselves against rent arrears and strengthen their position for winning deposit disputes.
