Brand values (and how they add value to your business)

In today’s ever-connected world, selling your product, whatever it might be is becoming more and more difficult.

It’s no longer good enough ‘just’ to have a great product; consumers want to buy from a great brand. A brand with strong ethics and values. A brand where the consumer feels as if they are buying a tiny part of the brand every time they do business with them.

In this short tutorial, we’ll explore what exactly we mean by ‘values’, we’ll look at some examples of brands doing it brilliantly, and you’ll leave with some top tips on how to write your own.

A born and bred Islander, Leighton has spent the past 13 years working for award-winning Island beauty brand, Liz Earle Beauty Co.  During that time, he was fortunate to work with the brand during a period of high growth and significant change. This allowed him to work in several different areas of the business, gaining valuable experience in many aspects of multi-channel retailing, from marketing and sales to learning and development, retail and creative.  Starting as a Team Leader in the Customer experience team, he saw the opportunity to grow and progress and soon moved to a role in the Service & Education function, where he led a team to deliver the exceptional level of service that is now synonymous with the Liz Earle name. From here, he moved to the Marketing team where he led the brand activation team, delivering large scale events, and launching the brand in international markets, before his final role as Head of Creative, where he was responsible for the overall look and feel of the brand across all touchpoints.   Now, after more than a decade, he is embarking on a new venture, Tide Consulting, a brand, marketing and customer experience consultancy.  “We’re called ‘Tide’ because we understand that from time-to-time, we’ll all endure those ‘highs and lows’, explains Leighton. “Our experience is in helping people, and brands keep focused on the horizon, knowing that for every ‘low tide’ there’s the promise of an impending high”.  Bringing together Leighton’s years of experience and his passion and skill for getting the best out of people, Tide offers a unique service to help businesses realise the power of their brand.  Whether it’s help setting your new brand strategy, some advice and direction on creative, a fresh pair of eyes on your customer experience, or simply a bit of help focussing your efforts, Tide Consulting can help.
