Register NowEmbracing the tenets of STEAM and UDL: Experience a dynamic, student-centered art project integrating environmental science, basic math concepts, tech design and fine art. Creating collaborative art projects, at their best, can be empowering and transformative for all those involved, regardless of their abilities or learning differences. Imagine a project that allows students to move from a sketch, to a scale model, to the creation of an immersive environment large enough to walk through! This hands-on workshop will take you through the entire creative process along with inter curricular applications (drawing, movement, sound and music). Join us for practical tips: how to create and sustain authentic student-centered collaborative projects; design visualization techniques to enhance outcomes; and leave with clear, detailed hand outs to guide you in the future.

Please contact us if you need a scholarship.
This space is accessible for people in wheelchairs. If you require additional accommodations, please let us know by August 10.

Our Presenters:

Intermedia artist C.M. Judge brings many years of mentoring experience with groups of children and adults to facilitate the creation of large-scale artworks. These projects -- including indoor and outdoor murals and installations -- integrate art with disciplines such as earth science, social studies and advanced technologies, encouraging students of all abilities to investigate creative process as it relates to their life experiences. C.M. holds a Master of Science in Visual Studies from M.I.T.

Deborah Stuart (who will help participants create a soundscape) has worked for over 40 years with children in classrooms and as a teaching consultant with a focus on Universal Design for Learning nationally and internationally. She has done extensive training for educators and was a core faculty member for the VSA Arts Institute: Professional Development in Art, Education and Disability. She has led national webinars and programs offered by the Department of VSA and Accessibility at the Kennedy Center, and she is the 2014 recipient of the national VSA Ginny Miller Award for Mentorship.
