Freedom for All: Utilizing The Case for Funding Black-Led Social Change

Dear friends,

In 2016, ABFE: A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities launched a special initiative, The Black Social Change Funders Network (BSCFN), with the support of the Hill-Snowdon Foundation. This invite’s purpose is to create an alliance of industry professionals willing to call for increased philanthropic investment addressing issues of grave concern in the Black community, and communities of color more broadly. This effort is designed to enhance Black social, institutional, and political power over the long-term by providing a platform to advocate for an increase in funding from foundations and donors to finance Black-led social change organizations.

Please join ABFE’s Black Social Change Funders Network (BSCFN), and our host Bader Philanthropies, for the first network Gathering of 2017 - Freedom for All: Utilizing The Case for Funding Black-Led Social Change. From Monday, June 19 until Wednesday, June 21, 2017 BSCFN members will meet in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the first in a series of three gatherings for 2017, to fellowship, strengthen our relationships and accomplish the following objectives:

  • Hear first-hand accounts of the current work of key Black social change leaders in Milwaukee;
  • Share strategies used by colleagues in the field to make the case for, and to implement investment strategies to build Black-led infrastructure for social change;
  • Gather early ideas to design a campaign to increase funding for Black-led infrastructure for social change by the country’s largest foundations;
  • Learn about specific investment strategies by funders to support Black-led organizing and opportunities for broadening this work;
  • Hear an update on ABFE’s efforts to coordinate emerging investment strategies by funders to support Black-led infrastructure to build Black economic power.

Space is limited, so please click on the link below for additional details and to register for Freedom for All today!
