Join Freeflight Aviation for a Fly-Out to the Bay Bridge Airport in Maryland for AutoGyro Lesson and a Flight.
Freeflight Aviation has put together another great fly-out, thanks to the help of Jan Greenberg.
On Saturday, October 27th we will fly down to Bay Bridge Airport (W29) in Stevensville, MD & spend some time learning about AutoGyros. AutoGyros look like a helicopter but are not quite a helicopter & not quite an airplane. Their flying characteristics give them safety features that helicopters or airplanes don't have. Our hosts for the day will be AutoGyro USA.

Rumor has it that they're so excited to have us come down that they may have the grill fired up with burgers & dogs!!
Besides giving us a background on autogyros & what makes them fly, they will be offering demo flights for those interested. The aircraft with instructor runs $200.00 per hour, so a half hour demo flight will run about $100.00. The number of people wanting flights will determine the length of the demo flights. They will also speak to us about adding an autogyro endorsement to your logbook as, like a tailwheel airplane, it only requires an endorsement from a CFI.
We will meet at Freeflight Aviation at 9:00 am for a 10:00 am departure for the 91nm flight to W29.
Be aware that W29 sits just outside the Washington DC SFRA but within the 60 mile ring around this area. All PIC's are required to have completed the SFRA training which can be found on the FAA's website or through a link from AOPA's website.
It is important to let us know how many people will be attending & how many pilots will want demo flights so our hosts can be prepared. Please let us know by October 15th.
