Because the Buddha's teachings are considered to be priceless, and in keeping with the teachings and spirit of generosity or dana, this retreat is freely offered. Donations are welcomed.
There will be two dana baskets set out at the retreat. One basket will be for you to offer dana for the teacher and a separate basket for organizational costs incurred by Victoria IMS. The suggested donation for organizational costs for this one-day event is $20. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
A One-Day Non-Residential Retreat
with
Brock Brown
In this day-long retreat we will reflect and investigate how we can cultivate peace. There will be chanting, guided meditations, Qi Kung and a Dharma talk.
The Buddha’s teachings are said to go against the streams of the world. We will consider how the ancient teachings of the Buddha help us develop peace in our hearts and minds, even in a troubled world.
This retreat is appropriate for both beginner and experienced meditators.
Brock Brown is a founding member and Chair of the Victoria Insight Meditation Society where he teaches and leads meditation retreats. He has been dedicated to the study and practice of the Buddha's teachings for the past 30 years, and is inspired by the Thai Forest Tradition. He is a graduate of the Spirit Rock Dedicated Practitioners Program and the Community Dharma Leader Program. Earlier this year Brock spent a month in Thailand staying at a Thai forest monastery in the Ajahn Chah lineage and travelled to India to visit the Buddhist holy sites.
Thank you.
