Titanic Tea at Hearthside

Hearthside's signature event, the Afternoon Tea, returns on Saturday, May 13th!  This year, the theme is a Titanic Tea.

Enjoy an elegant First-Class Afternoon Tea as it would have been featured onboard the White Star Lines Titanic.  Learn from our special guest presenter about the world's most famous "Ship of Dreams and its' unsung heroes, those who created the opulent experience for its passengers.  The event will also host a raffle, tour and prizes, and the gift shop will be open for purchasing.  The Afternoon Tea is a perfect outing with friends or family for a Mother's Day weekend celebration, or for history buffs, and tea aficionados.

A special presentation by Dr. Walter Powell, a historian, Titanic enthusiast and collector, will provide an interesting glimpse into the inner workings of the great ship.  "No Time for Tea" details the work that was done by those behind the scenes to create the opulent experience for the passengers of this "Ship of Dreams."  Our staff will be outfitted as both passengers and crew of the ship. The elegance of afternoon tea in the Titanic's tea salon includes delectable savories of miniature sandwiches and scones, along with dainty sweets, all beautifully arranged on fancy serving dishes set upon linen and lace, and accented by fresh flowers at every table.  Music that was played on the Titanic will add to the ambience.

Guests are invited to join in the spirit of the event by dressing in the era of 1912 as the first-class passengers on the ship would have done.  Hats, fascinators, or tiaras are encouraged, although not required. Prizes will be awarded for the best interpretation.

Following the Tea, guests are welcomed to a self-guided tour of the museum where our current exhibit "Woven in Time," about the Talbot family who lived at Hearthside from 1904-1926, is on display on the 2nd floor.

Two seatings are offered at either 12:30 or 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $47 each or $42 for current members and are only available by advance purchase no later than  May 11th.  Seating at each session is limited, so it is advisable to purchase early and avoid disappointment. This event is geared toward an adult audience and not appropriate for children under age 12.

Both seatings are sold out.  Let us know if you'd like to be on a waiting list for a last minute cancellation.
