We are excited to have as this year's Luncheon Keynote Speaker Ms. LaTosha Brown!

LaTosha Brown is an award-winning organizer, philanthropic consultant, political strategist and jazz singer with over twenty years of experience working in the non-profit and philanthropy sectors on a wide variety of issues related to political empowerment, social justice, economic development, leadership development, wealth creation and civil rights.

She is the co-founder of Black Voters Matter Fund, a power building civic engagement 501(c) 4 organization that played an instrumental role in the highly publicized 2017 Alabama U.S. Senate race. Ms. Brown is principal owner of TruthSpeaks Consulting, Inc., a professional facilitation and philanthropy advisory consulting business based in Atlanta, GA.

Frank Knaack is the Executive Director of Alabama Appleseed, where he serves as the organization’s chief strategic officer and voice for its mission, vision, values, and programs. Prior to joining Alabama Appleseed, Frank spent nearly eight years with the ACLU and its Virginia and Texas affiliates.

Most recently, Frank served as the Director of Public Policy and Communications for the ACLU of Virginia, where he led the organization’s advocacy before state and local government bodies and oversaw the design and implementation of the organization’s communications strategy. Under his leadership, the organization secured major public policy victories in the areas of criminal justice, the death penalty, government surveillance, reproductive freedom, and immigrants’ rights.

 

                                                         

Victoria Bourret joined the NLIHC staff in January 2018. Prior to joining NLIHC, Tori served as a Communications and Project Manager at the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania, a state partner of NLIHC. Tori provided management and outreach assistance for policy campaigns and specialized projects at the Housing Alliance.  Victoria was also in charge of all communications at the Housing Alliance, including social media, the newsletter, and the website.  Prior to her role at the Housing Alliance, Victoria served two terms in AmeriCorps, one with AmeriCorps NCCC in Denver, Colorado and one with Public Allies in Delaware. Tori earned her B.A. in Women Studies and Psychology from the University of Delaware and her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

                                                                   

Ms. Daphne Viverette is currently a Coordinator for the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources in the Office of Coastal Restoration & Resiliency.  Her past work includes fifth teen years in a public service capacity, implementing and administering local, state, and federal grants such as, CDBG, CDBG-DR, HMGP, HOME, ESG, FEMA, etc., as Community Development Director at a local government. She has a combine total of over 20 years in Project Planning, Banking, and Community and Economic Development experience. 

Over the years she has served in multiple capacities, such as the city’s liaison to the governor’s office, as well as serving on a Disaster Response leadership tour to Beijing and Chengdu with “the National Committee of U.S. and China Relations”. She has also been selected to attend multiple Sustainable Leadership Academies with the Institute for Sustainable Communities. Daphne is also Leadership Jackson County, Mississippi Alumni with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. She served as former Gulf Regional Planning Commissioner, a Grand Bay National Estuarine Reserve Advisor, and the Jackson County Emergency Food & Shelter Board member.
