FA Triangles Family Academy Outdoor School May  25-27, 2017

The Wonders of Watershed

This kind of learning makes HD, IMAX, and 3-D pale in comparison.  Our Outdoor School to the North Cascades region will provide students and their families with terrific guided activities and hands-on labs on  the ecology and habitats of this hiding- in-plain-sight remarkable region.

Ecosystems & topics to be studied include:

  • Riparian wetlands
  • Estuary habitats
  • Salt marsh habitats
  • Water cycle and water treatment
  • Human impact: levees, dikes, farming, hydropower
  • Native cultures & seasonal calendar

A great experience for all ages!

Program Fee (motel and travel expenses not included)

  • $79 per family if registered by 4/25, $99 after 4/25
  • Individual student attending with another family $49  (to 4/25) or $59 (after 4/25)

Program fee covers curriculum, facilities use  fees, and expenses and honorarium for  instructors and naturalists.  Upon receipt of  registration and payment, you will receive  the pre-trip information and curriculum. Also  included will be links to specific websites for  any pre-trip study sources.

High school course outlines will be provided  for General Science and Photography.  Academy NW students can also check with their teacher to see how learning activities can be applied for credit to any current subjects being students.

You will need to make your own lodging reservations (see left panel). Each family can pack simple foods for breakfasts, sack lunches, snacks, and drinks/water to have in their car.  Dinner will be planned potlucks for Thursday and Friday. Food assignments for the two dinners will be sent out two weeks prior to the event.

Students 12/+ years old whose parents are unable to attend but come with a "designated adult" with another registered family who are providing transportation and supervision for the whole time.  Non-attending parents must provide a permission slip. Costs for traveling, lodging, etc. must be negotiated between the families.
