Timmy Larr’s idea from last summer is quickly developing into this year’s most highly anticipated event. Five leading sailing organizations in the Northeast have combined efforts to offer the first ever match racing regatta in the area to sailors with adaptive needs. The event will be held August 25 - 27, 2017 in Oyster Bay, New York.

Two Coaches! Dave Perry and David Dellenbaugh will lead the event with an onshore clinic on match racing and on-the-water coaching throughout. Perry is a current rules advisor for the America’s Cup team Artemis Racing and five time U.S. Match Racing Champion. His books on sailboat racing are widely acknowledged as some of the best teaching tools for developing sailors.

Participating sailors who are interested can get involved in two ways. Teams of three should try to form and register. The Skipper is required to have an adaptive need. The rest of the crew may have adaptive needs but it is not required.  Individuals looking for a team can add their name to the crew bank and we will make this list available to to skipper trying to complete their teams. It is recommended that teams form themselves. Sailors who may need adaptive equipment should fill out the adaptive needs questionaire at the bottom of the page so we can provide it accordingly.

Notice of Race

Scholarships are available for travel and housing through The Clagett. Preference is given to applicants 200 miles or more in distance from Oyster Bay, NY. Interested sailors click here for more details on how to apply.
