Aerospace Technology & Americas Cup Sailing: NYYC American Magic
“New York Yacht Club American Magic," a new sailing team led by Long Island native Hap Fauth (Babylon), seeks to win back the America’s Cup; sailing’s highest prize and the oldest trophy in international sports. To gain an edge over their international competitors, American Magic will combine leading marine technologies with cutting-edge aerospace engineering. Learn about the U.S. America’s Cup team and how modern airplanes and racing sailboats are increasingly related at a special presentation at the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
Oakcliff Sailing Executive Director Dawn Riley MC the event. She will also discuss Oakcliff's role with the team. Currently one graduate, Robyn Lesh, has been hired by the team and we hope to see more join in the future. We also have one special guest outside of the world of sailing who will be presenting: Bill Sheperd, an astronaut and Navy SEAL.
The museum will be open from 6:30 for guest to explore. There will be light refreshments served and the presentation will begin at 7:30.
There is no charge but you must register.
