Roundtable for Domestic Violence Advocates: Reimaging the Future of Domestic Violence Services

In late 2018, NYSCADV asked domestic violence advocates to re-imagine the future of domestic violence services in New York State. Advocates were encouraged to picture themselves three years in the future and to envision the successes accomplished by DV programs, advocates and survivors at that time. How are DV programs funded in the future? What services are being provided? How are DV programs working with other stakeholders to end domestic violence?

This visioning exercise was undertaken at our DV Program Directors Roundtable on November 28th.  Since then, we have received several requests to continue this important discussion as we work to strengthen the leadership of advocates and create a new model for domestic violence services and prevention efforts in New York.

We are pleased to announce that the second part of this visioning exercise will be held on April 16, 2019, in Albany. Please join NYSCADV to re-imagine elements of current dv system structures, funding, regulations, monitoring, program operations, and innovations that we want to establish or enhance.

Who should attend:

Registration is open only to program staff of private, nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations and programs that have a primary purpose of providing shelter and supportive services to adult and youth victims of family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence, and their dependents.  This includes, but is not limited to, programs licensed by the NYS Office for Children and Family Services or have local NY Department of Social Services contracts to provide domestic violence services, either residential or nonresidential.

We highly encourage staff in the following positions to attend:

  • Program Directors
  • Staff in a supervisory role or their designees
  • Deep thinkers and visionary advocates
  • Any program staff interested in participating this visioning exercise

This conversation is more critical now than ever as the state of New York has launched several initiatives which will impact domestic violence services. Please join us in creating our future!
