Organized for Good: 6 Weeks to Getting--and Staying--Organized

When you’re organized, you’re more in control of your space, stuff, time, and information, and are able to live a richer, fuller life. But getting organized on your own can be a challenge, especially if you’re not sure where to begin, find the process boring or difficult, or feel frustrated and unmotivated because systems you’ve tried in the past didn’t work for you.

If you’re ready to make lasting changes in your relationships with your things and your space, Organized for Good is for you. This six-week online class is designed not only to help you accomplish a significant organizing goal, but also to develop habits and techniques that will make it easier to stay organized over time. Organized for Good will guide you step-by-step through the organizing process, providing information, insight, and motivation during each phase--all at a fraction of the cost of hiring a Professional Organizer.

What You'll Learn

Each week of Organized for Good is dedicated to one step in the organizing process. By tackling your organizing project one week at a time, you'll have the chance to create a solid foundation for long-lasting organization, and will also be able to build on your achievements from the week before.

Week 1: Why Is It So Hard to Get and Stay Organized?

  • During this week, you'll identify the obstacles that stand between you and the organized life you want to live, and will create a plan for overcoming them.
  • You'll also have the chance to learn from any unsuccessful past attempts at organization before bidding them goodbye and wiping the slate clean.
Week 2: Figuring Out Where You Are and Where You Want to Be
  • The second week of the course focuses on assessing where you are now in terms of organization, what your organizing challenges and frustrations are, and what changes you'd like to make.
  • By the end of the week, you'll set a challenging but realistic organizing goal for the remainder of the course.

Week 3: Creating Guidelines and Starting to Declutter

  • In week 3, you'll dive into the process of deciding which things deserve space in your life and your home, and will start clearing out those that don’t.
  • By the end of the week, you'll create guidelines that will help you decide what to keep and what to let go as you start to declutter.

Week 4: Clearing Out and Opening Up

  • During this week, you'll continue clearing out clutter and will focus on meaningful ways of passing along or disposing of the things you're parting with.
  • You'll also have the chance to explore the emotions that come up as you declutter, and will get support to overcome the obstacles that might come up during this part of the organizing process.

Week 5: Setting Up Systems

  • With clutter out of the way, you’ll focus in week 5 on creating functional, effective organizing systems for the spaces and stuff you want to get and keep in order.

Week 6: Maintaining Your Success

  • During the final week of the course, you’ll celebrate your success and will work on developing some simple but super-effective habits that will help you maintain the progress you've made.

What's Included

Each week, you'll have access to a range of information designed to help guide you through that week's assignment and support you in your organizing efforts:

  • A comprehensive workbook with information and tips on the subject of the week, along with worksheets, forms, and guides to help you put the principles you learn into action
  • An audio recording with ideas, motivation, and guidance from Emily
  • An online discussion group in which you can ask questions, share challenges and successes, and get support from Emily and your fellow classmates

Bonus! You'll also get one 30-minute one-on-one coaching call with Emily, which you're free to schedule whenever you'd like throughout the course.

  • Use your call early in the course if you’d like some guidance on setting effective, realistic organizing goals, or
  • Schedule your call midway through the course if you want support overcoming obstacles, or
  • Plan your call at the end of the course if you’d like coaching on developing habits that will keep you organized over the long term
  •
