2020 Advocacy Dinner and Day at the Capitol

Community Care Network of Kansas invites you, your staff, and Board members to join us for our Advocacy Dinner & Strategy Session the evening of Tuesday, January 28 and Advocacy Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, January 29.

PARTICIPATION IS KEY

Community Care's Advocacy Day is our chance to have a real presence with the Legislature, to be noticed and heard at the Capitol. We have important policy issues on the agenda for 2020, including KanCare Expansion, funding for school-based health services, 340B protection and increased funding for community clinics. And legislators pay attention to your stories about how community clinics are positively impacting patients and communities.

STRATEGIES FOR 2020

At the Strategy Session dinner, Community Care will provide you with a packet of information to share with your local Legislators, including our Legislative Platform. We will review the platform, share talking points, and update members on the political climate and issues at hand.

CLINIC DATA SHEETS

It is important that you share information about your clinic as well. We will create a Clinic Data Sheet for you, although you're free to continue developing your own if that is your preference. This is a new service Community Care is providing to members this year. The data sheets will include overall patient data and economic impact on the community. The Data Sheet will be included in your Legislative packet.

EXHIBIT AT THE CAPITOL

We will have exhibits on the second floor rotunda in the Capitol. Each clinic is asked to participate as an exhibitor on January 29, from 8 am - 2 pm. Tables will be provided. Reserve your space on the registration form.

LEGISLATOR APPOINTMENTS

We ask that you schedule appointments to visit with your Legislators during the event. We will send out contact information as soon it is available. We will send out contact information for all the Legislators representing your clinic's service area, so watch your inbox. The Legislators will be back in Topeka on January 13, so you can begin making appointments later that week.

Please share your appointment times with us prior to Advocacy Day. You may request that a Community Care representative attend your appointments with you if you feel that will be helpful.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES

A block of rooms are available at Capitol Plaza Hotel. To make your reservation, call 785-431-7200 by January 6 to ensure the $95 rate. The event registration deadline is January 22.
