The Secrets of Generational Minds:

Why You Don't Need to Change Your Style with Everyone You Meet

Have you ever had this happen to you?

Recently I was standing on line at a retail store, having waited a respectable amount of time to get to the check out, and just as my items rolled up to the cashier, she reached into her pocket, pulled out her cell phone and responded to a text message. While this only took 15 seconds or less, my reaction was to be insulted and annoyed!

I have a confession to make. I am a Baby Boomer. And while I don't reveal my exact age, I will tell you that I am very typical for my generation. I have a strong work ethic and I still believe in the American Dream. I believe I am "hip" and understand the next generations, but what I do not understand is disrespect. And in my mind this young lady done just that - been rude to me, a paying customer.

The cashier in question, however, is a 20-something Millennial, and in her mind, her actions were in no way disrespectful to ME, just something she had to take care of in between ringing up customers. She immediately turned her attention back to my purchase and continued as though nothing had happened.

Why did we both view the same situation so differently? What would your reaction be?

It likely depends on when you were born.

For the first time in history, there are four generations living, working and making purchases in the marketplace.

What makes them different? What makes them similar?

There are some basic assumptions that have always been made about the "older" generation and the "youngsters" following their footsteps. Things like:

Older people are stuck in their ways.

OR

Young people have it easy; they just don't realize how hard it really was to get to where I am today.

How about the "they" comments like:

"They" do not have respect for tradition.

AND

"They" can't keep up with new technology.

There is some truth to each of these statements, but there are also valid reasons for the expectations of each generation. The year they were born, the world events influencing their developing years, and technological advances as they grew and entered the workforce, to name a few.

These dates, events and developments create a different definition for each generation, how they respond to one another, and how they interact socially, in the workplace, and when being marketed to.

  • Can you identify each group and what characterizes them?
  • Do you know how each group defines customer service?
  • Do you know how to manage each group?
  • Are you prepared to customize your marketing efforts to each group to increase your sales?

The Secrets of Generational Minds:
Why You Don't Need to Change Your Style
with Everyone You Meet

"Wow! What a great seminar! I've been in business for almost 14 years and this is one of the best seminars I've ever attended. Angela Megasko is a dynamic speaker and her message is very important in a number of ways: not only did I learn how to better define, expand and attract my target market(s), but I also gained an understanding of other generations. This has benefited both my professional and personal life; I find myself must more sympathetic and understanding of others, and am much better positioned to provide a higher quality of service to my guests. I would highly recommend Angela; her message is clear, targeted and highly beneficial."

- Sue Erwin, Fox Hill Bed and Breakfast, Fairfield, VA

During this teleseminar I will introduce you to the:

  • Traditionalists
  • Baby Boomers
  • Generation Xers, and the
  • Millennial generations

After you understand the basics, you will be able to:

  • Determine who they are when selling or managing
  • Design approaches to influence and motivate them
  • Create ideal situations in the workplace and marketplace for positive reactions from each group

"Thank you so much for the workshop. I absolutely loved all the information that you provided, and the examples that you shared sure hit home. I feel more positive about my marketing than ever in the past...I also wanted to mention that you made me feel so comfortable being at this meeting...I believe you spoke to each and everyone at some point of the workshop."

- Joan Davis-Kaye, Woodward House on Manor Grade B&B, Front Royal, VA

The one hour you spend listening to this teleconference will provide you with the foundation for:

  • Managing relationships with your multi-generational staff;
  • Creating customer experiences to satisfy all the generations;
  • Developing promotional strategies to capture the attention of each of your target markets.

Don't get caught not knowing what your competitors know! Plan on joining me on October 11th to arm yourself with the knowledge necessary to market, staff and compete in 2012 and beyond.

This teleseminar is being offered at the unbelievable low cost of $25 for the one session. To attend my live presentation, people have paid up to 10 times that amount - $250!

I believe this information is critical to those of us who have staff, products and customers who cross all generational lines. If we don't understand the differences and similarities, we cannot reasonably market ourselves or our products to all of the generations.

So please, sign up right now to grab your place! This teleseminar will have 100 phone lines and unlimited web attendance, so be sure to call in early if you want a phone line.

If the date doesn't fit into your schedule, no worries! As long as you sign up, you will receive a link to the recorded version of the seminar the next day!
