Moving to Electric: the role of hybrid and range extender technologies

Moving to Electric: the role of hybrid and range extender technologies.

The major automotive companies are investing heavily in the development of electric vehicles (EVs) and we can expect to see growing numbers of electric cars on the roads over the next decade. Related industries are emerging, in areas such as charging infrastructure, battery technology and innovative engine design.

This breakfast briefing aims to address the investment opportunities emerging in hybrid and range extender technologies and to discuss the role of these technologies in an EV world. Typical questions to be posed will include:

- are hybrid vehicles simply an interim step on the path to full electric?

- what is the role of range extender technology for electric vehicles?

- should investors be searching for a technology 'winner' in EVs or is there space for multiple technologies?

- to what extent are pure electric vehicles dependant upon improvements in battery technology?

- what is the scope for combining electric drive trains with new technologies such as light weight carbon fibre materials?

- will there be a role for small innovative technology companies in the EV space, or are the OEMs set to dominate the market?

Panelists will include:

Ian Foley - Williams Hybrid Power

Nicholas Gill - Aeristech

Steve Cousins - Axon Automotive

The EV Investor Club

Cleantech Investor has launched the EV Investor Club. Membership is open to professionals active in the EV and associated industries and to the investment community. The Club meets on a regular basis to discuss the issues, challenges and opportunities in this emerging space and will be organising EV test drive opportunities!

Membership of the club costs £155 and a one-off joining fee of £20 (VAT is included). This price includes free entry to the quarterly EV Investor Breakfasts, subject to space (value £96); annual subscription to Cleantech magazine (value £135); reduced price advertising in selected issues of Cleantech magazine and on the EV section of the Cleantech Investor website; reduced price entry to other EV events hosted by partner companies; free/reduced price priority attendance at plant visits/EV test drive opportunities.

Attendance at the EV Investor Breakfast on 18 February is free to members of the EV Investor Club and anyone purchasing club membership will be registered automatically for this event. Attendance at future breakfast events will require registration to secure a place - although there will be no fee.

Full details of opportunities available to EV Investor Club members will be posted on the dedicated section of the Cleantech Investor website, which will be launched shortly.
