Arizona premier screening of

"Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case that Made History"

on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 6:30 pm

Church of the Beatitudes, in partnership with Equality Arizona, Gas Lesbian Straight Education Network (GSLEN) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), will host a special Arizona premier screening of the documentary, "Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case that Made History." on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 6:30 pm, at Church of the Beatitudes.

Bullied

The 40-minute documentary, a project of the Southern Poverty law Center, tells teh inspiring story of a young gay man who took a stand against the bullying he experienced in school.

Following the viewing of the film, a panel of experts will lead discussion about how we can create environments that are safe for all people.

Bullying can take many forms in today's culture -- teasing, or name calling, hitting or punching, or cyber attacks -- and many people can be made to feel unsafe at school, work or home. Schools, churches, libraries and even the Cartoon Network are workign to bring bullying into everyday conversation so that we can find ways to stop bullying before it happens. Communities and churches, including Church of the Beatitudes, are taking steps to create a culture of respect that reduces bullying significantly.

This past month, bullying targeted toward the LGBT community has taken a sad and difficult turn. National attention has baeen focused on the suicides of young LGBT individuals in New York, California, Texas, New Jersey, Minnesota, Indiana and Rhode Island. All of these youths had faced bullying and harassment.

You have an opportunity to raise your voice and take a step towards bringing an end to bullying. Attend the screening of "Bullied" and hear form a panel of experts on what we as a community can do about bullying.

Although registration is not required, we would like to get a count of the approximate number of people who will be attending. Please click on the link below to register. There is no cost to attend the screening and panel discussion.

Sincerely,

Pastor Nancy Elsenheimer, Senior Co-Pastor
