This in-person workshop focuses on the theoretical and clinical advances in psychotherapy within the trauma-based, self-psychology, developmental psychopathology, and attachment disorders perspectives. The topics are primarily oriented to improving clinicians' skills with patients presenting with depression, anxiety, relationship and life-interfering behaviors, eating disorders, paraphilias or sexual disorders and addictions.

OBJECTIVES

Based on this presentation, participants will be able to:

Trauma Related Altered States of Consciousness: Pathways to Healing

•    Describe the four-dimensional model for working with trauma related altered states of consciousness (TRASC).

 This presentation focuses on the four-dimensional model of the traumatized self using the collaborative change model highlighting nurturing the body, mind, emotions and the self/spirit.

Post Trauma Interpersonal Dysregulation: Dyadic Coping

•    Utilize an intersystem approach in addressing Post Trauma Interpersonal Dysregulation.

This presentation focuses on the intersystem approach to address the fear of intimacy post trauma.

 Developing Compassion: Transforming Self-Hatred and Self-Destructive Patterns

•    Describe specific treatment strategies for increasing compassion and challenging self-destructive behavior patterns.

This presentation focuses on specific treatment strategies for increasing compassion towards the self and challenging self-destructive behavior patterns.

Mindfulness Practice as a Foundation for the Treatment of Traumatic Stress

•    Explain the use of mindfulness techniques in the treatment of traumatic stress.

This presentation focuses on mindfulness techniques utilized in the treatment of traumatic stress.

PRESENTERS

Daniel A. Glaser, MSW, LCSW

Mr. Glaser is Program Director of The New Orleans Institute Trauma/Compulsivity Programs at River Oaks Hospital.  His national presentations have focused on family therapy, group therapy, and healthy sexuality.  Mr. Glaser received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans and completed post-graduate specialty training in mental health and aging, sexual dysfunction, and family therapy.  He has served on several graduate faculties, teaching at both the masters and doctoral levels.  Mr. Glaser works with clients covering the developmental spectrum – children, adolescents, and adults.  

Dawn Diermann Treigle, MSW, LCSW

Ms. Treigle is the Program Administrator of The New Orleans Institute at River Oaks Hospital. She has been a member of the treatment team since 1992 working at the programs in New Orleans, Louisiana and Torrance, California. Ms. Treigle received her Master's Degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and specializes in the treatment of trauma and compulsivity. She utilizes individual, family and group therapies in the treatment of adults and adolescents, and has been trained in EMDR. Ms. Treigle lectures regionally and nationally as a member of The New Orleans Institute faculty.

Registration Fee: $90 if paid in advance, $110 if paid at the door.

Target Audience & Instructional Level: Professional clinicians in the mental health field who are counselors, social workers, psychologists, and therapists. Advanced Level.

Satisfactory Completion: Participants must complete and return an evaluation form. Participants will also be required to sign-in and sign-out of the workshop. A Certificate of Attendance will be e-mailed to participants that meet these requirements within one week following the workshop.


Continuing Education Credits:

Social Workers (6 Hours) - River Oaks Hospital, #1500, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. River Oaks Hospital maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 01/26/2017 - 01/26/2018. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social Workers participating in this course will receive 6 continuing education clock hours. 

 

 

Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners – Provider No. 6667. The New Orleans Institute at River Oaks Hospital SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0153. (6 Hours). 

Professional and National Certified Counselors (6 Hours) - Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors – Provider No. 142. Texas State Board of Marriage and Family Therapists – Provider No. 194.

River Oaks Hospital has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5749. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. River Oaks Hospital is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.


Psychologists (6 Hours) - River Oaks Hospital is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. River Oaks Hospital maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

No requests for refunds will be honored if received within 1 week of the date of the workshop. If a participant does not cancel within the time frame specified in order to receive a full refund, that participant will be offered the opportunity to attend a comparable workshop hosted by River Oaks Hospital. In the unlikely event of River Oaks Hospital having to cancel the workshop, it is our policy to refund the fee in full.
