ENTRIES

Each entry will be a four minute video that represents the content and style of the maximum ten minute presentation at the conference.

The deadline to submit your entry is August 27th, 2011

• The video presentation should include a content driven response to the question of: How will Jewish life, living and learning change as we move to a society in which individuals are not only consumers of information and culture, but also producers of their own and others' experiences?  

The submissions should promote a clear vision or idea in response to this question. Although the submissions may refer to specific projects or programs it is the vision or idea  that should be the focus of the presentation.   

• In addition the four minute video should include actual examples of the media that will be used in the full presentation to convey this content in an engaging way.  This could involve any number of multimedia elements including a slide show presentation, music, drama, animation speaking voices etc. - anything that adds up to an engaging presentation. Note: If you plan to use a slideshow presentation, for example, your four minute video should include examples of the slides in the quality and design that would be used for the full presentation.
• Entries should be sent via YouTube. Be sure to set your broadcasting and sharing options to 'unlisted' before sending the link.
• Videos submitted must be received at futures@thejewisheducationproject.org by August 27, 2011.

• The major form of entry is a video up to 4 minutes in length; however contestants may choose not to produce a video. An alternative entry format is acceptable, provided that it:
  
  •  Creatively responds to the central question being posed by the competition
  •  Gives a strong indication of what the full presentation of up to 10 minutes would aesthetically look like at the Jewish Futures Conference.

In addition, participants submitting something other than a maximum 4 minute video should keep in mind that whatever they submit will be shared with multiple judges electronically and should take no more than the allotted 4 minutes of a judge’s time to fully understand the application.

•  Only one entry per person will be accepted.

JUDGING

• Videos will be judged by a highly respected group of Jewish educators and communal lay leaders and professionals.
• Winners will be notified mid September, 2011
• The primary judging criteria will be:
  • Is the message clear and substantive?
  • Does the message offer new insights on the question posed?
  • Does the message show an original angle on the future of Jewish learning and living?
  • Is the video, and the presentation that it represents, likely to stimulate further thinking and action by those who see it?
  • Is the overall presentation engaging for an audience that consists of Jewish educators, communal professionals and lay leaders?
  • Does the presentation speak to a broad cross section of the Jewish community including a wide range of ages, backgrounds?

WINNING ENTRIES

• Winning entrants will be flown to the General Assembly of Jewish Federations of North America in Denver.
• Winning entrants are invited to the annual Covenant Foundation Awards Dinner on Sunday evening, November 6, 2011, and must be present directly after the Dinner for a rehearsal of all presentations.
• Professional Staff will work with winning entrants to ensure that their presentation meets all of the necessary requirements for inclusion in The Jewish Futures Conference.
• Winning entrants will deliver-a 10 minute presentation, as part of the Jewish Futures Conference on the morning of Monday, November 7, 2011.
• The presentation will be broadcast and recorded for future use.
• The conference will arrange and pay for transportation to and from the event, one night hotel accommodations, and meals. 

AFTER THE CONFERENCE

THE JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA's Lippman Kanfer Institute will retain the right to use all videos that have been submitted, but will not limit the use of these videos by those who have created them.

OFFICIAL RULES

1.            Binding Agreement: In order to enter the Contest, you must agree to these Official Rules (“Rules”). Therefore, please read these Rules prior to entry to ensure you understand and agree. You agree that submission of an entry in the Contest constitutes agreement to these Rules. You may not submit an entry to the Contest and are not eligible to receive the prizes described in these Rules unless you agree to these Rules. These Rules form a binding legal agreement between you and THE JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA’s Lippman Kanfer Institute with respect to the Contest. Staff and board members of the JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA’S Lippman Kanfer Institute are ineligible to enter.

2.              Agreement to Rules: By entering this contest, you agree to all of these Official Rules. All decisions regarding the contest will be made by THE JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA’s Lippman Kanfer Institute at their discretion, and are final.

3.              Originality and Rights: By submitting your video, you are promising that you own the rights to all material in your video, including the music, images, script, and rights to include all persons, places or organizations included or depicted. Entrants agree to indemnify THE JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA’s Lippman Kanfer Institute including for legal costs, against any challenges to the ownership, use of, or rights to material in your video.

4.              Additional Conditions and Terms: As a condition for entry, you agree to release, waive, indemnify, and otherwise hold harmless THE JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA’s Lippman Kanfer Institute and all persons associated with it from any liability associated with your video and this contest to the fullest extent of appropriate state or local laws.

5.           THE JEWISH EDUCATION PROJECT & JESNA’s Lippman Kanfer Institute are not responsible: for errors of any kind; technical hardware or software failures of any kind, including any injury or damage to any person's computer, related to or resulting from participating in or experiencing any materials in connection with the promotion; lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission that may limit your ability to participate in the promotion.

6.           Once submitted an entry is final and may not be altered or edited further. Duplicate entries will disqualify all such entries.

7.              No submissions will be returned.
