What People With Lived Experience Can Teach Us About Trauma-Informed Care
Training Description
The trauma-informed care movement has deep roots in the experience of consumer trauma survivors which we now often refer to as “people with lived experience.” Risking Connection grew out of a class action suit by survivors in the state of Maine and the original curriculum was carefully reviewed by an advisory Board that included survivors as well. People with lived experience of trauma have much to teach us about how the services we provide are and are not therapeutic and healing.
This webinar will feature a panel of people of lived experience who will discuss: what they found helpful, unhelpful, and re-traumatizing about behavioral health services; recommendations for organizations serving trauma survivors; and ideas for including people with lived experience in helping your organization become more trauma-informed.
