Distant RC Trainer Webinar - December 9, 2020

Staff Retention and Sustainability

Training Description

As you work toward sustaining a trauma-sensitive environment, staff turnover can be a major challenge for organizations. In addition, sustaining a trauma-informed approach is difficult in a punitive world. When staff are experiencing vicarious trauma and are feeling discouraged or unsafe, they may tend to revert to a punishment-based approach. This webinar will provide an opportunity to hear from a panel of RC Associate Trainers that have implemented Risking Connection programming for 7 plus years. They will share strategies that reduced staff turnover as well as creative steps they’ve taken to sustain Risking Connection on a systemic level.

Facilitator

Mary Jo Harwood, LSW, DNCCM is a Program Coordinator for the Traumatic Stress Institute (TSI) of Klingberg Family Centers. Using the Risking Connection curriculum and a Whole-system Change Model, Mary Jo provides training and implementation coaching to organizations across North America on transforming their services and programs to trauma-informed care. A significant part of her 30 plus years as a licensed social worker has been spent supporting the recovery of individuals and communities post traumatic incidents. She has provided trauma-informed leadership to victim service organizations, congregate care settings, mental health providers, and served in the capacity of a trauma therapist, EMDR practitioner, and crisis responder.

Panel Participants: Erin Saylor, LCSW Senior Director Child and Family Agency of Southeastern CT, Inc., Rachel Schein, Psy.D., HSP Coordinator of Diagnostic Services & Clinical Training Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health – MA & RI, Kristi Glotzbach, LCSW VP of Treatment Services Family Ark and Beck Whipple, National Risking Connection Trainer and Suicide Prevention Coordinator for Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health.
