A Watercolor Workshop Series
Half Day + Watercolor Workshops with Barbara Jernigan
Cost: $50 per session plus supplies (discount for 3 session bundle)
January 25th: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. / Something Old: Watercolor Refresher Class
This class is designed for painters who have drifted away and need to refresh their skills, and for experienced painters in other mediums who want to explore watercolor. Emphasis on traditional techniques like the English Two Brush, dry brushing and wet on wet, negative painting, and using other tools to achieve texture and other effects. We will do small vignettes of landscapes, florals, and faces.
February 15th: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. / Something New: New Materials and Techniques
Using some new materials in watercolor including the more vibrant colors available, watercolor markers, watercolor sticks and Brusho, we will create a small painting. Samples of New Material supplies will be provided.
March 15th: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. / Something Borrowed: Isolating Subjects in Realism
We will learn the architectural technique for isolating subjects in realism painting taught by Laurin McCracken, as well as his technique for a background that doesn’t flash back in photos. In addition, we will study John Salminen’s techniques for glowing whites, washes without water blossoms, and more.
