Join us for an informative event about navigating BTW and the interesting and challenging TEEN years.
The evening will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner. As part of registration, please let us know if you will be joining us for dinner.
Each registered participant will be able to take part in two of the evening's four informative sessions. The evening will end at 8:35 p.m. Please let us know if you will be attending by registering, below.

Parent University Session Topics
You may choose to attend two out of the four session topics being offered.
1. Alumni Parent Panel Discussion
Understanding all the particulars of guiding our kids through the Booker T system can be challenging. As we all know, there's a lot going on. It's particularly chaotic at the freshmen level, but let's face it, each year is a different landscape with new challenges. To help alleviate some of that confusion, the PTSA has put together a panel of parents of recent grads who have already been through the BTW pipeline and have come out successfully on the other side. The objective is to share best practices across all clusters in a Q & A format somewhat moderated to ensure we cover as many of the topics as you want to cover. This is your opportunity to pick the brains of parents who have just gone through what each of you are experiencing now. Come prepared with questions or send them in advance to Pam Zeko at pamela@zekomedia.com
2. How to Communicate with your Teen

Another area where there's no such thing as TOO MUCH info is in understanding how to best communicate with our teens. The PTSA is privileged to host Priya Singhvi, a cognitive skills specialist and president of the SMU Association of Student Counselors, who will share her expertise in this field with us. As Ms. Singhvi explained, the objective is to equip those that attend with skills they can put into use immediately with effective results.
3. Navigating Teen Dating

It goes without saying what constitutes "dating" these days is vastly different than it was 20 years ago. It's hard to give direction to our young kids when nothing seems familiar. But guidance in developing young relationships is still every bit as necessary as it was in our day. Ms Tidwell is a women's and children's therapist at Genesis Women's Shelter and will be available to share her expertise and insight in to what constitutes healthy dating among teens today.
4. Helping your child cope with the stress of High School
By Dr. Paul Tathiah
As we all know, the demands on high schools students continue to increase. BTW's Child Psychologist, Dr. Paul, will be available to help us better understand the social and emotional side of adolescence, and how this can impact academics and learning. Dr. Paul will share his insights on best practices for promoting emotionally balanced teens.
