Please join the John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics and the Gephardt Institute for Public Service and Washington-DC based Institute for Social Policy and Understanding as we will explore the challenges that have surfaced between our quest for greater national security since 9/11 and our political ideals of civil liberty and religious freedom.

This panel discussion will address the challenges faced by Muslims in America, the current debate over Sharia Law and how we as Americans can generate a greater social understanding. This lively discussion will serve as an ideal commemoration of Constitution Day and the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

Panelists:

  • Sahar Aziz, ISPU Legal Fellow and Associate Professor of Law at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law
  • John Bowen, Professor of Anthropology at Washington University
  • Gulten Ilhan, Professor of Religion at St. Louis Community College – Meramac
