Benjamin Fontes, MPH, CBSP, has served as the Biosafety Officer at Yale University since 1995 and is a Past-President of the American Biological Association (2009-2010). Ben is also Manager of the Safety Advisor Program at Yale University Environmental Health & Safety.

Ted Myatt is a Senior Scientist and Biosafety Group Practice Leader with Environmental Health and Engineering, Inc (EH&E) in Needham, Massachusetts. Dr Myatt has received an Bachelor’s of Science in microbiology at the University of Illinois, a Master’s of Environmental Management at Duke University, and a Doctorate of Science at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Myatt’s doctoral research focused on infectious disease transmission in the workplace. At EH&E, Dr. Myatt concentrates his practice on microbiology, exposure assessments of biological and toxic agents, laboratory and biological safety, research compliance, and investigations of infectious disease outbreaks in the workplace. He has been an expert witness in a number of legal matters related to exposures to mold and Legionella bacteria. As part of this role at EH&E, he regularly consults with Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBC) for academic and commercial clients, and serves as the Biological Safety Officer for Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard Institutes of Medicine, both located in Boston, MA. In his role, he serves as a voting member of the Harvard Committee for Microbiological Safety, the IBC for Harvard University and its affiliated hospitals. Dr. Myatt regularly publishes in the peer-reviewed literature and presents at academic conferences.
Meredith (Merry) Van Bramer, BS, MS, CPIA, graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Biology and received her Masters in Laboratory Animal Science from Hahnemann University (now part of Drexel University). After graduate school, Merry worked for Boston University Medical Center as a Barrier Rodent Facility Manger. It is at BU that she became interested in the Compliance/Regulatory/IACUC aspect of Laboratory Animal Science. Therefore in May 2002, Merry joined Biogen Idec as an IACUC Coordinator, where she is now a Senior Associate, Animal Regulatory. Merry is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the institutional animal care and use committee and associated regulatory compliance activities, ongoing implementation of institutional animal care and use guidelines, standard operating procedures, and training programs to comply with regulations, guidelines and policies governing the care and use of animals in research. In 2008, Merry became a Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA).
