Reducing costs is several times more effective in increasing profits than increasing sales or raising prices.  Drawing from the disciplines of Lean and Six Sigma, there are a number of simple cost-reduction methods which are appropriate for small businesses.

You will learn:

• Why cost reductions can increase profits more than raising prices or increasing sales.
• 5 Useful Concepts and Principles.
• 5 or more Simple Tools for reducing cost, while maintaining quality and employee morale.

Speakers:

John Harmon, is Managing Director of Adulant Consulting Services which advises small and medium size businesses on strategies for growth and operating excellence. His services include business and strategic plan development, strategic forecasting, marketing plan development and execution, and operational efficiency improvement. John has held senior leadership and executive positions at Eastman Kodak, the Gartner Group, and Pitney Bowes in sales, marketing, quality management, strategic planning and new business development. He serves as a volunteer for SCORE, an arm of the Small Business Administration, where he counsels small businesses on improving their business performance.

Thomas F. McCabe, is a Managing Director of W.W. Mentorprises, Inc. (WWM), headquartered in Darien, CT.  Prior to joining WWM, he was engaged as a consulting manager with a Big 4 Consulting firm within its e-Infrastructure Practice.  He has a wide range of consulting experience covering eBusiness transformation, information systems strategies, methodology development, program management office organization, project risk assessment, systems integration, business continuity planning, software selection, new product development and business process re-engineering.  Currently, he instructs on project, program and portfolio management at the University of Connecticut's School of Business.  

Andy Jawlik, is Managing Director of Jawlik and Associates, LLC which provides consulting and training in process and quality improvement.  He is a Lean Six Sigma black belt, and he also draws on experience from IBM, as a process executive.  He also held a variety of management and staff positions there in marketing, sales and communications, finance and IT business controls.  He is currently writing a book, The Most Confusing Statistical Concepts in Lean Six Sigma.  He is also a SCORE Business Counselor.
