The Networked Communicator Lunch-and-Learn

In the past year, online profiles have exploded. Whether they're part of social media networks, career sites or your own website, here's the good news: You have more options than ever for creating an online presence that will help you market yourself as a communications pro or public speaker.  The bad news? Cutting and pasting your resume into online profiles just doesn't, well, cut it.  If you're looking for a new career opportunity or just looking to expand your network, your online profile should showcase your communications skills.  Think you don't need an online profile because your employer's site has a bio? Think again. In this economy, employers are fickle and social media is your friend.

This lunch-and-learn session will let you network in real life with other communications pros while you enjoy the National Press Club's extensive lunch buffet and find out:

  • What to consider when choosing among the options for online profiles,  from standards like LinkedIn to newer options.  Based on what these sites do and don't do, you may need more than one profile.
  • How to use online profiles in conjunction with your website or blog--or use them as your website, if you don't have one now.
  • How to use your online profile to boost search-engine results, and which sites help you do that best.
  • Which sites are best for specific tasks, like mentoring, promoting a speaking gig or showing off your portfolio of work.
  • Integrating online profiles into your in-person networking, with your business cards, QR codes and mobile devices, as well as social networks.
  • How to use specific profiles to advantage, and what they get for you.

Registration for this workshop is limited, and there'll be plenty of time for your questions. Participants also will receive a followup email with links to all the resources discussed in the session, so you can get started creating new online profiles right away.  Bring your business cards and your appetite!

Please be sure to read the workshop FAQ and cancellation policy. When you click on the registration button, it signifies that you have read and accept this policy.
