New Understandings of ADHD, Emotions and Motivations
Understanding of ADHD in children, teenagers and adults has changed as a result of clinical and neuroscience research. Long considered a simple problem of behavior, ADHD is currently understood as impairments of the brain's self-management system, its executive functions. It often involves problems with motivation and management of emotions. Yet, all with ADHD have a few specific activities or tasks in which they have no difficulty in using their executive functions which are impaired in most other things they do. Dr. Brown will describe this central mystery of ADHD and how these impairments can be improved with various interventions.
