Launched in January 2019, the BMO Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) sets a new benchmark for the banking industry by creating a 21st -century approach model for global security by bringing together information security, fraud management, physical security, and crisis management into one cohesive team to ensure BMO can best prevent, detect, analyze, respond, and recover from all threats aimed at the bank, our clients, and partners.

Doug Malin is the Managing Director, Financial Crimes Unit, Head, External Partnerships, Training, and Technology Innovation.  Doug joined BMO in March 2019 as an MD with an initial role in the buildout and standup of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) and the FusionCentre; the first of its kind in Canada. His responsibilities include Security, Compliance and Governance lead and later expanded to the establishment of the FCU Training Academy, Enterprise Security Education, External Partnerships and Innovation teams. His teams explore new and exciting technology in the Financial Crimes sector and work to upskill, reskill and develop a best in class workforce strategy that will keep BMO positioned as an industry leader well into the future.  Doug works with external partners in the financial industry and government agencies to ensure solid relationships and open lines of communication allowing BMO to be as engaged and aware as possible.

John Galluzzo is the Director, Financial Crimes Unit, Head, FCU Analytics & Engagements team within BMO’s Financial Crimes Unit and Fusion Center(s). Joining BMO in July of 2019, John is responsible for the FCU Analytics team with the task of integrating information security, enterprise fraud management, physical security, and crisis management into one cohesive team setting a new benchmark for the banking industry by creating a 21st-century model for global security. Previously, John was a Senior Vice President and Head of the cyber security Functions and Engagements and the Data Derived Intelligence teams at Citi, where he successfully built and developed cyber security fusion centers in New York, New Jersey, Budapest, and Singapore.
