AWARDS

Trophies given to the top five individuals in each section. Ties broken by SwissSys pairing system (Tie break order: Cumulative, Performance of Opposition, Solkoff).

Medals given to individuals with plus scores (3 or more points).

Team awards to top three scoring teams in each division: Beginner (U600), Intermediate (U800/U1000 combined), and Elite (U1200/U1400/Open combined).

Teams must consist of at least two students in the same division who attend the same school. The three highest scoring individuals from a single school count toward the team award. The next highest scoring individuals are used only as tiebreakers. (For instance, a school with players who score 5, 4, 4, and 2 would receive a team score of 13).
A school is eligible for team awards in any division in which they have at least two players. A school can win team awards in multiple divisions.

Good Sport Awards and Best Costume Awards given by a panel of judges.

RULES & SCHEDULE

Rounds matched with Swiss pairing system. There is no “elimination” for losing early rounds. We will avoid pairing team members and siblings against each other as much as possible. Tournament organizers reserve the right to adjust sections and time controls depending on the number of registrations and schedule constraints. Sections may be subdivided based on rating and/or age.

U600/U800 sections: Five rounds. Game in 25 (each person has 25 minutes for all of their moves) with a 5 second delay per move. Notation optional. If one player provides a clock and wants to use it, then both players must use the clock. Clocks without delay capability will play Game in 30. Games started without clocks may have clocks placed on them when 40 minutes have elapsed from the start of the round with 10 minutes remaining for each participant. NWSRS rated.

U1000: Five rounds. Game in 25 (each person has 25 minutes for all of their moves) with a 5 second delay per move. Clocks and notation required. Please bring a clock if you have one. NWSRS Rated.

U1200/U1400: Four rounds. Game in 40 (each person has 40 minutes for all their moves) with a 5 second delay per move. Clocks and notation required. Clocks without delay capability will play Game in 45. NWSRS rated.

Open: Four rounds. Game in 40 (each person has 40 minutes for all their moves) with a 5 second delay per move. Clocks and notation required. Clocks without delay capability will play Game in 45. USCF and NWSRS rated. USCF membership required. Discounted USCF memberships are available through OSCF. Email Renee at funds@oscf.org to request a USCF membership.
