Dealing with High Conflict Personalities

With Michael Lomax, Lawyer/Mediator

High conflict disputes are increasing in every setting: in legal disputes, in divorce, at the workplace, between neighbours, among family members, against employers and government agencies. They often involve one or more people with high-conflict behaviour, characterized by:

  • All-or-nothing thinking
  • Unmanaged emotions
  • Extreme behaviour
  • Preoccupation with blaming others
  • Prolonged, unresolved conflict
  • Drawing in many other people
  • Draining energy, time and resources

Yet these disputes can generally be managed by understanding high conflict behaviour and using skills that are often different from ordinary conflict resolution methods.

This one day workshop will help professionals gain insight   and confidence which will assist them in managing high conflict behaviour in any situation.

Cost:

Mediate BC Roster Mediators & CBA Members: $325 + GST

General: $375 + GST

This workshop counts for 6.0 hours CPD credits and 6.0 hours toward family mediation training requirements from the Law Society of British Columbia as well as 6.0 hours credits toward Mediate BC's ongoing training requirements.
