Lunch 'n' Learn Webinar: Intentional Practice for Therapists: Practicing What We Preach

Synopsis: Having an overarching framework is critical in order to own and build upon change. As clinicians, we help our clients most by being intentional in our own lives. Lisa Kentgen has created a guide for intentional living through practices in five foundational areas: awareness, reflecting, choosing, acting, and allowing.

This framework is a valuable guide in developing and uncovering the most authentic versions of ourselves. The presentation will focus primarily on the first foundation, Awareness, which is closely related to eastern mindfulness. Participants will be encouraged to create their own personal practices in intentional living.

Biography: Dr. Lisa Kentgen A psychologist with nearly three decades of clinical and consulting experience, Lisa Kentgen has taught intentional practices everywhere from the psychotherapy office to companies to the classroom. She has served on faculty at Columbia University Teachers College and as a clinical director within mood and anxiety disorders at New York Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Kentgen has published articles on topics including the development of conscious awareness, the biological correlates of anxiety and depression, and identifying emotional difficulties in children. Her book, "An Intentional Life: Five Foundations of Authenticity and Purpose" was released in 2018.
