Join ASLA Colorado, the Central Rockies Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration (CeRSER), and the Denver Botanic Gardens for an afternoon of informative and engaging presentations and a panel discussion followed by an informal reception. LA CES will be applied for. Admission includes two drink tickets and light fare.

Early registration rates, through March 23: $30 for members of ASLA, CeRSER, or the Botanic Gardens; $45 for non-members; and $20 for students.  After March 23, registration will only be accepted on site: $45 for members; $60 for non-members; and $30 for students

Presenters:

Marion Hourdequin
Marion Hourdequin is an associate professor of philosophy at Colorado College. Her work focuses on the ethics of global climate change and on the social and ethical dimensions of ecological restoration.  She is particularly interested in restoration in landscapes with complex socio-ecological histories.  Hourdequin's writings have appeared in a variety of journals, including Environmental Ethics, Environmental Values, and Ethics, Policy, and Environment.  She is the author of Environmental Ethics: From Theory to Practice (Bloomsbury 2015) and co-editor, with David Havlick, of Restoring Layered Landscapes (Oxford 2015).  

Keith Bowers, RLA, FASLA, PWS
As Biohabitats’ founder and president, Keith has employed principles of applied ecology and land conservation to build a practice focused on regenerative design--a model that respects Earth’s ecological limits, heals damaged ecological processes, integrates green infrastructure, and catalyzes mutually beneficial relationships with the land. Erasing the boundaries between conservation planning, ecological restoration, and sustainable design, Keith leads multidisciplinary teams on projects ranging from site-specific ecosystem restorations to regional planning and the creation of sustainability programs for communities and campuses. Keith served on the Board of Directors for the Wildlands Network and as Ecological Restoration Theme Lead for the IUCN’s Commission on Ecosystem Management.

Rick Bachand
Rick is the Environmental Program Manager with the City of Fort Collins, Colorado Natural Areas Department. Building on 20 years of passion for land conservation, Rick is a leading expert in public land management and widely recognized for his award-winning efforts to restore the Poudre River in Fort Collins.  Rick is a member of the Colorado Open Space Alliance steering committee and acts as a policy advisor to the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts.  In addition to his 14 years with the City of Fort Collins, Rick proudly served with the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, National Wildlife Federation and Trustees of Reservations.  He earned a M.S. Degree in Forestry and B.S. Degree in Marine Biology.  Rick lives in Fort Collins, CO with his wife and two sons.

Our three presenters will be joined by moderator Tina Bishop to discuss a range of topics.

5:30-7:30pm - Happy Hour Reception

Your registration fee includes all three presentations, the panel discussion, and the happy hour. LA CES will be applied for. 

The event will be held in Mitchell Hall at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ York Street location (1007 York St, Denver, CO 80206). Parking is available in the parking garage located across the street from the main entrance between York and Josephine streets.

Cancellations after March 23 cannot be refunded. Attendee substitutions may be made.
