EVERY SECOND COUNTS &

                      AFTER PARTY WITH CITIZEN ZERO

Oakland County CrossFit will host the first Every Second Counts Competition on Sunday, October 7th.  This competition will be based on the 2008 CrossFit Games when standings were determined by total overall time, not points.

Every Second Counts comes from the title of the video documentary of the 2008 CrossFit Games, which was still held at "The Ranch".    The Every Second Counts movie takes an inside look at the CrossFit culture and community, where time on a stopwatch reigns as the supreme measure of performance.  Those who reach the elite ranks in the sport of CrossFit push themselves beyond limitations imposed by the mind and flirt with the limits of physical capacity.  The film chronicles the dramatic journey of five athletes:  James "OPT" Fitzgerald, John Welbourn (founder of CrossFit Football), Josh Everett, Matt Murski, and Dutch Lowy.  It depicts how they prepare for and compete in the most comprehensive test of fitness on the planet, the CrossFit Games.  The road to what was then only a two-day program of 4 events.....oh how far we have come!    Watch the trailer to get you fired up!

Oakland County CrossFit will be running the same workouts that are depicted in the movie (because we thought that would be fun), but all in one day!   We will offer a slight varriation to a few of them, but overall our goal is to recreate the enviornment of the 2008 Games.   Workouts are listed below and we will offer a Beginner, Open and Master (40 & over) division.

AFTER PARTY WITH CITIZEN ZERO

Oakland County CrossFit will be holding an after party at the box with Citizen Zero!   Refreshments will be provided and the grill will be fired up if you would like to grill some food.  Stay for a bit to hang out, catch up and listen to some great music!

Although relatively young (all the guys are in their early twenties), Citizen Zero's music displays a skill level and sophistication well beyond their years, AND fans have been noticing!  With their debut EP, produced by Kid Rock Engineer Al Sutton, starting to burn up the internet airwaves, listeners have been feverishly responding to "Destroy Me Beautifully", and "When the Rain Comes", the first two singles from the album.

WATCH THEIR VIEDO HERE

Citizen Zero creates thoughtful and meaningful modern rock.  Their songs sound like instant classics without being dated.  It's music that sounds relevant but is never trendy.   Detroit Rock Blog heralds Citizen Zero as "Detroit's next great hard rock hope", with songs that "will stick in your head like your ex's phone number from the first listen"

This past summer, Citizen Zero performed at almost every major music festival in Metro Detroit, including a coveted slot at Arts, Beats and Eats, Mount Clemens' Stars and Stripes Festival, and Port Huron's Blue Water Festival.   We are excited and proud to have them at our CrossFit Event so we can not only WOD together, but also hang out and listen to this awesome upcoming group.  I promise you will not be disappointed!
