Learn how to build cross-cultural and linguistic competency (CLC) in your youth-serving organization to ensure fair and equitable outcomes for all youth. Examine challenges and strengths within your organization to move toward CL competency. This training is specially designed for program managers and will also include opportunities for front-line staff to examine and increase their CLC knowledge and skills to better serve youth in their programs.
This workshop will be facilitated by LaKeesha N. Woods, Ph.D., Senior Associate with Community Science. Dr. Woods has extensive experience providing program development, evaluation, and consultation services in clinical and community psychology. Her research has focused on cultural influences on the development and functioning of youth and families of color; and culturally congruent preventive interventions for youth placed at risk.
CEUs for Social Workers.
CEUs for Certified Counselors will be provided by the Montgomery County Office of Human Resources (MCOHR). MCOHR is approved and authorized by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to provide Continuing Education Credits and maintains responsibility for this program. MCOHR is in voluntary compliance with the continuing education standards set by the National Association of Social Workers. MCOHR is recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors, provider #6080, and adheres to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines.
Participants are expected to arrive on-time and attend the entire workshop. A 15 minute grace period will be allowed at the start of the program. Anyone arriving more than 15 minutes late or leaving before the end of the workshop will not receive CEUs. CEUs will not be given for partial attendance.
