Tom and Rachel Bailey

Join us for a Ravinia Style outdoor concert featuring Tom and Rachel Baily accompanied by Anne Badger.

Rachel Bailey began studying flute with Sue Gillio in Oglesby, Illinois in 1996.  She studied with Pat George at Brigham Young University-Idaho where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Music Performance. She also earned her Master of Music Degree in flute performance studying with Dr. Adah Toland-Jones at Texas State University. Ms. Bailey was a winner in the Concerto Competition at Texas State in the Fall of 2008 and soloed with the orchestra on the Liebermann Flute Concerto in Spring, 2009. She most recently studied at Trevor Wye’s Flute Studio in Ashford, Kent UK. She currently teaches flute lessons and freelances in the Illinois Valley area.

Tom Bailey is about to enter his final year at Illinois State University, graduating in the Spring of 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance.  Afterwards he plans on pursuing a master’s degree in the same area.  He was last seen onstage in ISU's mainstage theatre production of La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini.  Later in July, he can be seen onstage again in Normal, Illinois, where he will be participating in the Midwest Institute of Opera.  He will be performing in the Institute’s production of Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan, and will also be covering the role of Don Ottavio in the Institute’s production of Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Accompanist Anne Badger received her Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College in Music and English and a Master of Arts from Yale University.  She studied organ with Richard Litterst, piano with Donald Walker, Minka Roustcheva, and Wilbur Price.  Anne was a freelance pianist and specialist in early music in New Haven, Connecticut and the New York Metropolitan area.  She served as the Professor of English at Bucknell University, with a field specialization in eighteenth-century British literature, and with particular interests in the interrelations between the arts.  She currently holds the position as the organist at the First Congregation Church UCC in Ottawa and maintains a private piano and organ studio. She is working on a book in the field of architectural history titled “Alexander J. Davis, American Architect” based on the David historical archives in New York City, to be published by Mount Ida Press.  In 2000, Anne joined the faculty as accompanists for the Summer Flute Retreat.
