Aviation Expedition 2017

The Aviation Expedition is an exciting and interesting hands-on STE(A)M (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math) experience for students who have an interest in the world of aviation.

Your budding aviator will be given the opportunity to understand simple piloting concepts and skills through the use of experiments and real-world aviation tools.  Students will walk away from this program with a keen sense of team work and basic aviator knowledge that they can carry forward to their next level of aviation training.

Students will gain a basic understanding through hands on activities/experiments with the following topics: 

• Four Forces of Flight
• Aircraft Control Surfaces (Students will interact with an aircraft parked on the ramp.)
• Engineering Concepts (Students will be challenged to design an aircraft from various materials.)
• Team Building Concepts
• Compasses and Headings
• Airport Signs/Runways and Operations (Students will be taken on a tour of the control tower.)
• Weather
• Humanitarian Mission Planning
• Flight Planning and Sectional Charts
• Wing Design

This class is for girls and boys 9 - 12 years of age.  The Aviation Expedition will consist of 12 students who will be chosen on a first-come first-served basis.  Your student will be added to a wait list if all 12 positions are filled.

Cost: $450 (includes all materials and activities)
