Safety Town 2019

What is Safety Town and how does it work?

This is a SIX DAY PROGRAM offered by the Jackson Township Professional Firefighters that starts on Thursday, June 7 and ends on Thursday, June 14th with Graduation. This program is designed to give your child a basic understanding of several areas of safety. This program is for children who are going to be attending kindergarten in the 2019 - 2020 school year and live in Grove City, Jackson Township or Urbancrest. Children can attend either a morning or afternoon session for seven days. Each day we cover a different safety topic to include: school bus safety, fire safety, stranger danger, poisons, safety around pets and animals, and water safety. Children will be assigned to a class that is taught by a certified school teacher, and "preview" what it is like to be in school. We will teach them about safely using the school playground and the rules that they will be expected to follow once they begin school in the fall.

Morning session begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:30, afternoon session is 12:15 to 3:15. There is not class on Saturday or Sunday. Parents may drop off children five minutes prior to start time and pick up promptly at dismissal time. If you have a preference for the AM or PM session, please note that on the registration form. 

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email stating that we received your registration.  I will send an additional email shortly before the start of Safety Town letting you know class room assignments  If you have any questions or issues prior to this, please email me at gcsafetytown@gmail.com and I will get you an answer as soon as I can.  

Graduation will be held on Thursday, June 13th at 10:30am for the morning session and 1:00pm for the afternoon session.  The location is TBD.  More details to follow!

Will this cost me anything?

We are frequently asked about fees and charges.  This program is provided as a service to the community by the Jackson Township Professional Firefighters Local #2672 with support from the Jackson Township Fire Department and Trustees, and the City of Grove City Police Department and City Administration.  

Whilethere is no fee to attend the program, we do ask that parents bring snacks to share with the class.  If each child brings one package of individually wrapped or snack size packs of fruit snacks, crackers or some other snack we will be able to provide snacks for all of the kids for the whole program. You will not need to supply enough for the whole class.  Juice boxes will be provided.  If you have any questions, please send me an email and I will be happy to help!

Having difficulty registering? 

If you submit your registration and get no confirmation, chances are that you did not get registered.  Some people have clicked 'Submit' and  it went back to a blank registration form which means that it did not go through.  Please make sure your web browser is the most current, maybe try a different browser (such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer).  If you still cannot get registered, email me and I will make sure that your child gets in!
