Wednesday, December 2, 2015
Greensboro Marriott Downtown, Greensboro, NC

Carruthers & Roth, P.A.  is pleased to announce our annual 2015 Business & Tax Seminar taking place on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.  This full-day seminar, designed for CPAs, accounting and tax professionals, will focus on key issues, policies and requirements related to their profession.

Objectives

Upon completion of the 2015 Business & Tax Seminar, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize the changing landscape of estate planning as a result of modern family dynamics and recent legislative developments.
  • Identify common problems encountered in non-qualified deferred compensation plans: failure to comply with DOL reporting requirements, coverage of non-qualifying participants, failure to recognize when 409A applies, and misapplication of special FICA wage withholding rules.
  • Summarize the uses, benefits and limitations of and on modifying and decanting irrevocable trusts.
  • Recognize and avoid the unintended consequences of transferring real estate: notifying insurance companies, potential reduced value taxation, retaining title insurance and limiting warranties of title.
  • Identify key federal and North Carolina state tax changes effective in 2015 and recognize new tax planning opportunities for individuals and businesses arising from recent tax legislation.
  • Name the various types of crowdfunding vehicles that may impact efforts to raise capital. Summarize the regulatory rules applicable to crowdfunding and analyze the tax reporting implications associated with crowdfunding.
  • Summarize current statutory and regulatory obligations for businesses regarding the safeguarding of customer and employee personal information.
  • Assess cybersecurity information threats and mitigate cybersecurity risks by implementing best practices to protect the privacy and confidentiality of data.
