Speech 1:   Building a Security Program that Protects an Organization's Most Critical Assets - A Different Approach

Synopsis:

Organizations are swimming in data and becoming more interconnected with partners and vendors on the "Global Electronic Nervous System" every day. Because of that, companies need to plan, implement and maintain a Critical Asset Protection Program that clearly defines what assets are deemed most important to the organization based on revenue, income, reputation and core operational impact.

 After completing this session, participants will learn the following:

1.       How to measure an organizations information and network security initiatives current capability and maturity on the Security Continuum.

2.       How to define critical assets based on revenue, income, reputation and core operational impact, as well as the attributes of the assets (i.e. how they are created, stored, used and transmitted).

3.       How to plan, implement and maintain a Critical Asset Protection Program (CAPP).

4.       How to successfully bring executive level management into the discussion and make them part of the CAPP.

5.       How to build and prioritize the CAPP scope and create a milestone-based program for business leaders.

6.       How to optimize the CAPP leveraging the right combination of people, process and technology.

 

Speaker: Robert Eggebrecht, BEW Global President and CEO

 

With over 20 years of experience heading up major initiatives for leading organizations around the globe, Rob’s knowledge and understanding of business development, information security and global product and service launches is extensive.

Prior to founding BEW Global, Robert Eggebrecht was an integral part of several high-technology businesses offering solutions including enterprise business applications, communications and information security. He held positions with TicketMaster, Qwest, Level 3 Communications, Gemplex and Virtela, working domestically throughout the US as well as internationally on assignments in Tokyo, London and Denmark. In these positions Rob was primarily focused on corporate finance, product management, business development and technology based service delivery.

He holds a degree in International Business from the University of Denver and management certificates from Georgetown and Stanford University. Rob is an active member in the ISO 27000 community and successfully completed the ISO 27001 Lead Auditor Course and exam

 

Speech 2:  How disruptive technology is changing IT risk management, today and in the future 

Synopsis:

In this session, Norman Marks will review traditional approaches to IT risk management, how they may no longer be suitable in the dynamic environment of today and the future, and how IT organizations (and IT auditors) need to adapt going forward. 

Speaker:   Norman Marks

Norman Marks, CPA, CRMA is an evangelist for “better run business”, focusing on corporate governance, risk management, internal audit, enterprise performance, and the value of information. He is also a mentor to individuals and organizations around the world.

Norman was the chief audit executive of major global corporations for twenty years and is a globally-recognized thought leader in the professions of internal auditing and risk management.  In addition, he has served as chief risk officer, compliance officer, and ethics officer, and managed what would now be called the IT governance function (information security, contingency planning, methodologies, standards, etc.) He ran the Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 (SOX) programs and investigation units at several companies.

He is the author of the Institute of Internal Auditors’ “Management’s Guide to Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404: Maximize Value Within Your Organization”), which has been described as “the best Sarbanes-Oxley 404 guide out there for management”.
