How to Manage Anxiety: Building Skills that Lead to Action Over Avoidance

Focus of this workshop will include how to interrupt and prevent problematic/negative patterns of avoidance, perfectionism, social anxiety, and academic struggle that anxiety engenders.

How to Manage Anxiety: Building Skills that Lead to Action Over Avoidance

Description:  Mental health practitioners benefit from knowing and using the most effective, active, and creative strategies to treat young people suffering from worry and anxiety.  Both they and their families need a clear plan for HOW to respond when anxiety flares up; and parents must be instrumental in the process. This workshop will focus on creating effective skill-building plans, collaborating directly with parents and school supports when appropriate, and above all, ACTIVELY engaging everyone as quickly and positively as possible.  As we work to emotionally equip our youth, there is great opportunity to learn what works and what doesn’t.  And what are the mistakes we continue to make? What are the myths we need to let go, the paradigms we need to shift, and the skills we will continue to build?
