Sports Medicine for the Primary Care Physician

This one day program is designed for primary care physicians who wish to improve their ability to care for physically active patients, provide medical services to athletic teams, and promote physical activity for their patients. Plenary sessions will cover major musculoskeletal and medical topics in sports medicine. Breakout sessions will be offered to provide hands-on-practice of the musculoskeletal physicial exam and case-based discussions of sports medicine clinical problems.

This course provides up-to-date, evidence based information on topics commonly encountered in primary care and addresses how to incorporate these developments into daily practice. This years topics include preventative care, pain management, hospice care, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry, women's health, and pediatrics in addition to a session covering the timely topic of the legal risks in primary care.
