2021 GFWC Georgia Institute

Dear GFWC Georgia Sisters,

 As your State President, I am honored to extend this official call to you for attending our annual State Board and Institute meeting.  GFWC Georgia will be smiling all weekend as we come together for a time of learning plus great fellowship while being in the Northeast Georgia mountains as we visit Unicoi State Park & Lodge during August 20-22, 2021. 

With this being the first Institute of this administration, you will find our agenda is packed full of ideas for clubs as this will be a weekend of learning as GFWC Georgia will “Feed Your Mind”.  Our annual LEADS seminar will start the weekend off on Friday, August 20, at 10:00 a.m.   Please plan to attend this informative session for both new and experienced members as you develop and empower yourself to be an effective leader.

Saturday morning starts bright and early at 8:00 a.m. in the Masters Ballroom.  Not only is this a weekend of learning as GFWC Georgia will “Feed your mind”, but GFWC Georgia will also “Feed the hungry”.  Your assistance is needed to participate in a hands-on group service project as GFWC Georgia members will package 10,000 meals in a one-hour allotted time from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. for distribution by an international hunger relief organization, “Rise Against Hunger”.   This will be a fun energetic event that will reflect our “Yes, We Can Do It!” volunteer spirit as we package highly nutritious dehydrated meals to be delivered to the hungry.  I thank you in advance for your donation to this project and your hands-on volunteer service to prepare 10,000 meals for the hungry.   Be a part to end world hunger - YOU are needed!  You will find a “Rise Against Hunger” flyer included in this Call. 

After the Opening Session from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., workshops are scheduled throughout the day with a boxed lunch served at 12:00 noon.  (See At-A-Glance Flyer)  Dress for the day sessions on Saturday will be casual.   You may wear your 125^th Anniversary Celebration t-shirt again or your S.M.I.L.E. shirt (no jeans). 

Join us on Saturday night for our State Board Meeting as well as to hear our guest speaker, Tammy Garland, GFWC Protocol and Special Events Chairman.   Dress for this event will be business dressy.

Also,  join the Junior Conference for breakfast on Sunday morning during the Junior Conference Board Meeting and hear guest speaker, Carrie Zimmerman, GFWC Juniors’ Special Program: Advocates for Children Chairman.

Again, plans will be continued through means of social distancing as much as possible this weekend with masks still welcome in all functions.  Feel free to wear your “Hugger” SMILE bracelet.   Also, Unicoi State Park & Lodge continues to communicate updates to the staff on information issued by the Center for Disease Control and have increased the frequency in the cleaning of facilities paying extra special attention to customer touch points and other hard surfaces as well as implemented sanitation guidelines for hand washing and personal contact among employees.
