Yvette Guigueno, Director of Development, Pacific Opera Victoria

Yvette Guigueno is director of development at Pacific Opera Victoria where she oversees philanthropic and corporate relationships. She previously spent five years at Royal Roads University leading the fundraising team. Yvette began her career in the arts in 2007 at the Victoria Symphony as an administrator and worked in both fundraising and audience development before settling into sponsorship management. Yvette is active in the community and sits as a board member for both Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Victoria chapter of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP). She also works with youth as a roller derby and skating coach. Yvette earned an M.B.A. in executive management from Royal Roads University and holds a CFRE.

Janice Krall, Chief Development Officer, Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation

Janice is a people first senior leader known for building relationships. Born and raised on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC she has deep roots within her community. Janice holds a certificate in Community Leadership through Vancouver Island University and has received her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation. She has a combined 20 plus years’ progressive leadership experience in corporate, a national non-profit, higher education and community volunteering. Serving as the Chief Development Officer at the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation she oversees Development and Communications.

Her work with teams, volunteers and donors has earned local, provincial and national recognition. Her national contributions include representing BC in the development of a National Volunteer Engagement Strategy for over 120,000 volunteers and representing the province of BC in a National Strategy Renewal initiative for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Janice has served on several diverse boards and community round tables offering her natural collaborative style and ability to strategically work toward solutions with proven results. She is passionate about her community and is very proud to be a Past President of the Zonta Club of Nanaimo. Also a huge animal lover, she is a supporter of the SPCA, and currently serves as President Elect for the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak and as Policy & Advocacy Chair and Board Secretary with the Haven Society.

John Davies, Senior Consultant, Global Philanthropic Inc.

John spent his early career in education, including twenty years at Shawnigan Lake School, on Vancouver Island. Shawnigan Lake School, a leader in independent boarding school education, made an early and significant investment in its future by supporting a bold advancement strategy. John, a passionate advocate of independent school education, served as Director of the Shawnigan Foundation for twelve years.

John’s delivery of philanthropic leadership has taken him to Britain, USA, China, Denmark, Holland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and U.A.E. His single-minded focus on major gift philanthropy and board development has enabled his clients to attract significant resources to their organizations.

John represents Global Philanthropic with an active list of private school clients across Canada and Asia and is a much sought-after speaker on all aspects of fundraising, especially on the creation of all-encompassing advancement programs, whilst focusing on capital campaigns, annual fund strategies and planned giving. His lengthy experience in China is considered a significant asset by his clients. Since joining Global, John has also achieved significant success in guiding healthcare, arts and social service clients.

John is the Past-President of the Vancouver Island Chapter of AFP. He was honoured by his Canadian colleagues in 2011 with the prestigious CAISAP Heaman Award for his contributions to philanthropy in Canada.

John obtained an MA from the University of Victoria in Curriculum Studies.

Randall Heidt, Vice President Strategic Initiatives at North Island College and the Executive Director of the NIC Foundation

Randall leads several areas at NIC including: Government and Community Relations; the Centre for Applied Research, Technology and Innovation (CARTI); Marketing and Communications; and the Office of Advancement.Randall holds a Bachelor of Communications degree from Mount Royal University, a Master’s in Leadership degree from Royal Roads University and a Professional Fundraising certificate from Boston University.Randall is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and a Board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Vancouver Island Chapter.
