Population Health Readiness
You are cordially invited to attend the JCPH Forum on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Our featured speaker is Wayne H. Giles, MD, MS Director, Division of Population Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Giles will discuss the issues related to "Population Health Readiness."
Dr. Giles’s Forum presentation will provide an overview of the different levels, drivers and opportunities available to improve population health. He will also describe the CDC’s and other Federal initiatives designed to support population health. Additionally, Dr. Giles will identify opportunities for health care providers to work with government programs to advance population health.
His past work experience has included studies examining the prevalence of hypertension in Africa, clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness of cholesterol-lowering agents, and studies examining racial differences in the incidence of stroke. Dr. Giles currently directs research and programmatic activities in a number of areas including arthritis, aging, alcohol, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, prevention research, school health and epilepsy.
He has over 150 publications in peer reviewed journals and has authored several book chapters. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Charles C. Shepard Award in Assessment and Epidemiology and the Jeffrey P. Koplan Award.
