It is with excitement that I invite you to LAUP's Inaugural Gala, happening November 4, 2016 at the Laketown Golf & Conference Center, in Sauguatck. The LAUP Board of Directors and I have been working on a number of exciting projects that we will share with the community at this event and we want our key partners to be in the audience to hear the exciting work that has been happening.
One of our special guests for the evening will be national representatives from the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the United States largest and oldest Hispanic/Latino organization. They wll be on hand to discuss and support the work LAUP has been doing in the West Michigan area.
The value of your participation in this event is priceless. This year, as part of the celebration, we invite you to come and see a few pieces of "Nuestra Comunidad Hispana 2.0" – the second chapter in the oral history pilot project that was launched in 2015. The collaboration continues with the generous funding by the Michigan Humanities Council and in partnership with the City of Holland, Grand Valley State University, Herrick District Library, St. Frances de Sales Parish, and new member Holland Museum. We will continue to collect stories and portraits from community members through December 2016.
